The warm, wood-lined dining room at Ham Ji Bak in Sherwood, Oregon

Korean Home-Style · Sherwood, OregonShared from a full bowl.

A hamjibak is the big hand-carved wooden bowl a Korean family mixes and serves from — enough for everyone. That’s how we cook.

Our Name · 함지박

The bowl the whole table eats from

In a Korean home, the hamjibak is the largest bowl in the house — carved from a single log, big enough to mix rice for a crowd and carry a harvest. You don’t own one to eat alone. You own one to feed the family, and the neighbors too.

We brought that idea to Sherwood: generous, unfussy home cooking — soft-tofu stews, sizzling stone bowls, and hot pots made for the middle of the table.
